My training began at the San Francisco Art Institute, San Francisco, California. Jay DeFeo, Jack Jefferson and Julius Hatofsky, were among highly respected instructors who influenced me. Their tutelage and collective enthusiasm for abstract expressionism propelled me to create enormous abstract oil paintings.

About eight years ago, I came upon the work of Alice Neel. I immediately knew, what I wanted to paint, modern portraits of ordinary people.

So began a series called My People.

I do not paint portraits to flatter the subjects but to illustrate their singularity as part of humanity.
